Friday, 24 May, 2013 - 2013 North Carolina Offshore Championship

The NCOC Regatta is the premier offshore regatta on the North Carolina Coast. The NC Maritime Museum will host the shore based activities at their Gallants Channel facility near Beaufort. Access via water is next to Town Creek Marina and access via land is on West Beaufort Road, gate 3, just beyond Town Creek Marina. The first 30 entrants will be provided with free dockage at the Gallants Channel facility for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The Regatta will be governed by the 2013-2016 Racing Rules of Sailing. All boats shall comply with N.C. Wildlife Commission and U.S. Coast Guard safety regulations. Three or more races are planned for all Spinnaker and Non-spinnaker classes, but one completed race will constitute the regatta. A fun Cruising class race is also planned for Saturday only. The Cruising class will be limited to boats that do not traditionally participate in offshore racing. Placement in this class is subject to reassignment into another class at the sole discretion of the PRO. Sailing Instructions will be available on www.nyra.org and at registration. The race courses will be set approximately 2 miles east of Beaufort Entrance channel marker 10.

Saturday, 25 May, 2013 - Memorial Day Regatta

REGISTRATION IS NOT COMPLETE WITHOUT PAYMENT OF ENTRY FEES. PLEASE HAVE YOUR METHOD OF PAYMENT (CREDIT CARD, PAYPAL OR ABYC CLUB CHARGE NUMBER) READY BEFORE CONTINUING REGISTRATION.

This regatta is open to members ”in good standing” of an SCYA-affiliated yacht club, to members of US SAILING Association-affiliated yacht clubs if they reside outside the SCYA area, and to foreign sailors who are members of their respective National Governing Authorities.

The following classes are invited: Ocean Course classes include 5-0-5, A-Cat, Cal 20, Etchells, Finn, Formula 18, Hobie 16, Kiteboard, Laser Full Rig, Laser Radial, Olson 30, PHRF, Portsmouth (monohull and multihull), Snipe and Thistle. Bay Course classes include Laser Full Rig B, Laser Radial B,Lido 14 and Naples Sabot (Senior, Junior A, B, C1, C2, C3). Five (5) PAID entries are required to establish a class; one-design boats that have not established a class will race in a Portsmouth or PHRF fleet.

Classes not shown above may enter in Portsmouth, and may petition ABYC for a one-design start in the regatta.

Saturday, 25 May, 2013 - 2013 Turnback Canyon Regatta

Complimentary breakfast from 8:00 AM until 9:30 AM Saturday morning during the final registration time. The Turnback Canyon Regatta will NOT go to Lago Vista this year. Skippers meeting at 9:30am. First Horn at 10:30am. At the end of the race on Saturday a beach party with beverages, food, and music will begin at 4pm on land in front of AYC. Music will be provided for dancing and entertainment Saturday evening. Dinner starts at 5:30pm. Sunday, breakfast 8-9am. 2nd race Sunday followed by burgers by UT Sailing Club sailors (fund raiser), and a trophy presentation. One Dinner Ticket and Tee Shirt is included in the registration fee.

Saturday, 25 May, 2013 - 2013 Slip to Ship Regatta

RULES - The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing.

ENTRY and ELIGIBILITY - Open to multihull catamarans from 16-22 feet AND monohull boats up to 24 feet considered to be "Sportboats" (such as the Melges) with a US Portsmouth rating.

FORMAT - Two races on Saturday. Race One is from the waters in front of the Ocean Springs Yacht Club (OSYC), out to Ship Island. After lunch and relaxation on the island, race two goes back to where we started off at the OSYC. A third race will be held on Sunday, typically around Deer Island. Detailed routes will be presented in the forthcoming sailing instructions.

Two classes, spinnaker and non-spinnaker.

HOT NOTE! Ocean Springs Yacht Club is doing it up big again this year! Combined with the regatta on Saturday will be a club-wide potluck dinner, open to all sailors. A live band, cash bar poolside, and oh yes, Memorial Day weekend is the official opening of the swimming pool for summer. You don't want to miss this! The Sailing Squadron, the club, and the wonderful ladies (and men) on the social committee are committeed to making this a weekend to remember! Don't miss it! Last year we had 46 boats, and we're hoping to break 50. We're keeping the price the same as last year... but the venue is kicked WAY UP, so INVITE YOUR FRIENDS!

NERVOUSĞ - We'll have chase boats, monitoring VHF channel 68 and lots of folks ready to lend assistance. If you've never sailed to the island, (about 10 miles south) but are an otherwise competent skipper, this is your chance!

TIREDĞ - Bring your tent or RV, no worreis.

STILL NERVOUSĞ - Some race hard, some cruise easy, but everyone enjoys the party at the island. :-)

FEES - The entry fee for all boats is $60. Entries include breakfast, lunch and dinner on Saturday, breakfast on Sunday, and one (1) regatta t-shirt. Saturday lunch is chicken and beverages on the island. Dinner will be a pulled pork luau combined w/ an OSYC club-wide member contributed potluck. Eat w/the club members downstairs, recount the regatta, hop in the pool, and enjoy some music. Additional shirts will be available for purchase.

SCHEDULE -

Saturday, - approx 10am Skippers meeting, race one starts approx 11am - Race two starting sequence begins TBD by PRO on the island
Sunday, - approx 10am Skippers meeting, starting sequence approx 11am

SAILING INSTRUCTIONS - Details of the course will be available at the skippers meeting and on the notice board at the club.

SCORING - The low point scoring system will be used. No throw outs.

PRIZES - First second and third for spin and non-spin, and other fun awards at the race committee's discretion. Possible 3d class for portsmouth over 72, 72 and under and open spin.

NOTE: Competitors are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the sailing instructions on-site, at the skippers meeting and the notice board. They will list what channel markers, etc to round. Saturday, 25 May, 2013 - Goombay Regatta

The Coconut Grove Sailing Club (CGSC) will host the annual Goombay Regatta on Biscayne Bay May 25 & 26, 2013. PHRF boats will race on Saturday, May 25th. One Design boats will race on_Sunday, May 26th.

The races will be governed by the Rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing, BBYRA Notice of Race and Sailing Instructions, Part I - General Conditions, One Design and Cruising, Sections 2, 4.2, 5.2, 7, 8.1, 9, 10.1, 12, 13 and 14; Part II - Sailing Instructions: One Design; Part III – Sailing Instructions: Cruising; and Part IV – Championships, Scoring and Awards, Section S2.1(c), and this Notice of Race. Current BBYRA Registration is not required for this regatta. No separate Sailing Instructions will be issued.

There will be a Bahamian Cookout Dinner back at the CGSC docks on Saturday, May 25 at 1700 Hours. Cost per person will be $15 – tickets available at the cookout.

Awards will be given each day following the racing at approximately 1700 Hours on Saturday and as soon as is practical after the last race on Sunday.

CGSC encourages families and friends to attend
the Bahamian cookout with Reggae Band and the awards.

Saturday, 25 May, 2013 - 2013 Basic Sailboat Racing Seminar

The GBCA Basic Sailboat Racing Seminar is open to all boat owners and crew that would like to learn the basics of yacht racing. The seminar begins at 1130 at the GBCA office. There will be presentations covering the Racing Rules of Sailing, Race Committee actions and Basic Racing Tactics and Strategy. Lunch will be served.

The classroom session will adjourn in time for crews and skippers to head out on the water to race in the first of GBCA's 2013 Rum Race Series. We will match up skippers and crew with experienced volunteers to enhance the learning experience. New boats will be given provisional ratings for the race.

After racing, we will return to the GBCA office for the Rum Race after-party with refreshments, stories and awards.

Saturday, 25 May, 2013 - 2013 Discover Sailing Weekend

Join us May 25-26 for sailing and instructional training because now is time for you to Discover Sailing!

Spend a weekend discovering what a lifelong passion sailing can be. Whether it is racing Lasers, keelboats or just cruising, sailing is one sport that can give lifelong fulfillment for the entire family.

Fees are $50.00 for weekend or $35 for a single day per individual- all the instructors are volunteers who love sailing and sharing our passion for the sport. Lunches, snacks and beverages will be provided Saturday and Sunday. What a bargain! We have some limited space for a few folks who want to learn about the techniques of sailing and spend some time on the water.

Visitors are permitted to come Friday the 24th to get settled and acquainted with the grounds and to camp out through the weekend (we have ample showers and facilities). Beverages will be provided Friday evening and grills are ample if you plan to grill out.
